Greetings of the New Year!!

Here's a quote to remember:
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. - Aristotle

So, here we go. It is the first day of the year, and my plan is to repeatedly make choices that reinforce my boundaries, and achieve the goals that I have set for myself this year.

[Drumroll]
My Primary Goal of 2008

I am developing the habit to say less, not more. To stop explaining my actions and decisions to everyone who asks.

This one is a biggie for me. I have somehow developed the (nasty) habit of answering everyone's questions about my life, actions, and choices, whether it is their business or not. Whether I really want to answer them or not. That stops now. No more explaining. 'Nuff said!!

Do any of you have the same problem?

Is this similar to when you march down past your neighbors houses, towing the bin behind you, and rather than remain an enigma, shout to anybody who might be listening "Yes, that's right - we forgot to put our bin out"... then of course you realise you are also wearing your robe and slippers in the middle of the street too...

I have that trouble too... I say waaay too much about things that aren't anyone else's business. I stopped trying to please everyone. If they're pleased great, if not... well, that's their problem, not mine. Happy new year!

@ Jonathan:
To some degree, yes, LOL!!

But it is also about, "Why don't you let your children do X?", and then, after you answer, it boils down to "we just want you to go along with what we want, even if it doesn't work for you... it wasn't really a question about you!

@Stef:
You got it!! That's exactly what I'm working on… that, and the 'not caring' part, lol!!
