Because I am originally from NYC, I am always mildly surprised when the fall comes, and everyone here begins discussing their "fall garden". Even in the dead of winter, it doesn't get much below freezing for any length of time, so gardens continue on for two and sometimes three, seasons.
I think that it is wonderful. Being able to enjoy fresh vegetables from one's own garden virtually all year round is a real blessing.
